Suggested Itinerary,

Day 1: Arrive Auckland

Welcome to New Zealand. Arrive at Auckland,collect a rental car and drive to the hotel.Self-driving holidays are one if the most relaxing ways of enjoying New Zealand’s landscape. Many of the roads are scenic and traffic is low when compared to international standards.Overnight stay in Auckland.

 

Day 2:Auckland – Waitomo-Matamata – Rotorua

Check out from hotel and Travel south through the Waikato region to arrive at Waitomo for a guided tour of the glowworm caves with its weird and wonderful limestone formations and a magical boat ride under thousands of twinkling glowworms. Continue to Rotorua this afternoon via Hobbiton Movie Set for a guided tour of this world-class attraction. Overnight stay in Rotorua.

 

Day 3: Rotorua – Local Sightseeing

Today after breakfast take your vehicle &drive to visit TePuia Thermal Reserve, the Agrodome for a sheep and farm show and Rainbow Springs to view trout and wildlife. Rest of day is at leisure.Overnight stay in Rotorua.

Day 4:Rotorua – Wellington

This morning check out from hotel & travel from Rotorua to Lake Taupo before heading south through the Central Plateau to Wellington. Overnight stay inWellington.

Day 5:Wellington – Local Sightseeing

Today drive in Wellington. Enjoy a morning sightseeing tour of Wellington. Visit Te Papa, ‘Museum of New Zealand’ for a short guided tour. Overnight stay inWellington.

Day 6: Wellington – Picton – Christchurch

After breakfast check out from the hotel. Return your rental car this morning in Wellington to take the Interislander Ferry to Picton. Travel through the Marlborough Sounds and enjoy the scenic view from the ferry. On arrival in Picton, collect your rental car andtravel south through Blenheim and Kaikoura to reach Christchurch.Overnight stay inChristchurch.

Day 7: Christchurch – Dunedin

Travel south across the Canterbury Plains to reach Scottish influenced Dunedin, renowned for the local wildlife and Otago University. Overnight stay inDunedin.

Day 8: Dunedin – Queenstown

This morning is free for optional activities. Departing Dunedin this afternoon, travel inland through Central Otago towns to arrive in Queenstown in the early evening.Overnight stay inQueenstown.

Day 9: Queenstown

A day is free to explore the endless optional attractions available.Queenstown offers bungee jumping, jet boating, white water rafting, gondola rides and much more. (Optional activities are not included) Overnight stay inQueenstown.

Day 10: Queenstown – Glacier Region

Depart Queenstown and travel via Lake Wanaka and through the historic Haast Pass, gateway to the World Heritage Westland National Park, up the West Coast past spectacular mountain ranges, native forests and lakes to the glacier region of Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers. For Self Drive clients, entry to the Glacier Hot Pools (Franz Josef) is included. Overnight stay in Glacier Region.

Day 11: Glacier Region – Christchurch

Today after breakfast check out & transfer to Christchurch. Ascend through lush beech forests past the alpine village of Arthur’s Pass before crossing the spectacular Southern Alps. Travel over Canterbury Plains to Christchurch. Overnight stay in Christchurch.

Day 12: Christchurch – Departure

After breakfast it’s time to check out.Return your rented car & transfer to the airport for your onward flight or back home.

• In New Zealand, all motorists drive on the left-hand side of the road
• All road distances are measured in kilometers
• Drivers and passengers must wear seat belts at all times, in both front and rear seats
• The common legal age to rent a car in New Zealand is 21 years. For driver’s aged 21-24 years, special conditions and an age surcharge apply
• The speed limit on open roads is 100km/h (approx. 60m/h). In urban areas the speed limit is 50km/h
• International Driving Licence and Permits –
• You can legally drive in New Zealand for up to 12 months if you have either a current driver’s licence from your home country. If your licence is not in English, you should bring an English translation with you, or obtain an IDP

• All renters must have a valid credit card presented on collection.The credit card used for payment needs to be in the renter’s name and cannot be a family member’s card. Credit card surcharge will apply to all credit/debit cards.
